Know the Principal


Mrs. Rita Wilson, Principal of the Starex International School, is listed by “Education World” (a monthly journal on education, June 2006 issue) as one of the fifty educationists “reshaping Indian Education”.  She has had exposure to school education in England, Germany, Japan, Singapore and Dubai in various programmes.

Mrs. Wilson did her schooling from the Convent of Jesus & Mary School, New Delhi and graduated in English Honors from Miranda House, Delhi University. Thereafter, she did her M.A. and M.Phil. in English Literature from the Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. She also has a teaching degree – B.Ed. – from the Government College of Education, Punjab University, Chandigarh.



She began her teaching career at the Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla in 1972. Later, she joined the Auckland House School, Shimla, which is a 140 year old girls’ residential school. Here she rose to become the Principal of the school after having held the post of Senior Mistress (Vice Principal). She moved to Delhi in 1998 where her husband, Dr. Anil Wilson, was the Principal of the prestigious St. Stephen’s College. In New Delhi, she joined the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations where she worked as the Deputy Secretary for eight years. Here she also held the additional charge of the Chief Executive & Secretary for over a year.

Mrs. Wilson brings with her vast educational experience having been not only a teacher and an educational administrator, but also having served on the Governing Bodies of a number of schools and colleges, viz Bishop Cotton School Shimla, Tyndale Biscoe and Malinson Schools Srinagar (J&K), Auckland House School Shimla, Gorton Senior Secondary School Kotgarh (HP), Alexandra Senior Secondary School Amritsar, St Thomas’ Senior. Secondary School, Shimla, Satyawati College Delhi University, College of Business Studies Delhi University. She is an expert in various aspects of school education including administration, finance, human resources development, etc. She has shared her expertise at Principals’ conferences held by: Association of Heads of Anglo Indian Schools, Association of Heads of ISC & ICSE Schools, and Indian Public Schools Conference. She is a master trainer and has conducted a number of workshops, seminars and refresher courses for teachers.
