A visit to the vegetable market was organized
as a part of the Project-Fruits and Vegetables
in May. The children thoroughly enjoyed
the experience. They learnt the names
of various fruits and vegetables and learnt
the differences in their textures, colours,
shapes and sizes. By the time they returned
they had a detailed rate list and got
a practical lesson on weights and measures.
They also learnt the importance of fruits
and vegetables in a healthy diet.
Earth Day
To celebrate the' Earth Day' on 21st
April, Grades III-IV were taken for a
visit to' Om -Shanti Retreat '. The children
were amazed to see that solar energy was
being used for preparing food for 5000
people at a time. They learnt a very important
lesson on conservation of and best utilization
of natural resources. Roaming around in
the lush green lawns surrounded by the
beautiful flowers, they learnt to appreciate
the beauty and bounty of nature and the
tranquillity the surroundings offered.
They have become members of the Green
Brigade and have vowed to take care of
the earth. They made badges _"Save
the Earth", Earth friends",
Green Brigade" and wore them very
proudly.
Boarders have fun too – ‘Pagal
Gymkhana’
A ‘Pagal Gymkhana’ was held
on Saturday the 6th of May for the Boarders
as an end-of-term party. It was meticulously
planned by Mrs. Manju Rao, House Parent,
Girls’ Residence, who was ably assisted
by Mrs. Vinita Srivastava, House Parent,
Boys’ Residence. It was an evening
full of fun, frolic and laughter. Various
races were held like sack race, lemon
and spoon race, three legged race, wheel
barrow race, skipping relays, bucketing
the ball, etc.
The Tug- of- war contest between Students
and Teachers was a great favourite. Of
course the result was obvious –
The students won but not before a prolonged
tussle!
This was followed by a sumptuous buffet
dinner and kulfi.
The students learnt to conduct the whole
show right from compeering, managing the
music, announcements to the prize distribution
at the end.
It was indeed a memorable evening and
will be cherished by all Boarders
